Originating in Germany, Guillaume Beneman settled in Paris. He was accepted Master in 1785 and quickly became one of the most famous cabinetmakers of his time.

Placed very quickly with the head of the most important workshops of its time, Beneman put at the service of the Garde Meuble  an irreproachable technique and could perfectly serve a policy which tended to give a unit of style to the furnishing of the royal residences.
