The drawings have probably inspired the work of ornithologist Saverio MANETTI (1723-1785) and his work “Natural History of Birds” published in Florence between 1767 and 1776.

This work of 600 drawings is distributed in the city of Florence, in five volumes. It is commissioned by Marie-Louise of Spain (1745-1792), Grand Duchess of Tuscany and requires 10 years of work. The first volume was dedicated to Grand Duke Pietro Leopoldo. The third volume was dedicated to Ferdinando di Borbone and the fourth to Giorgio Nassau Clavering.

The artists Violante Vanni and Lorenzo Lorenzi produced the engravings and drawings to illustrate Saverio Manetti's text.
